|Abstract: ||This study made an assessment of the factors that have impact on the work - family life balance by the non-teaching employees of Benguet State University (BSU) and Saint Louis University (SLU) with the use of mobile phones.
The respondents consisted of 306 non-teaching employees who were chosen by
stratified random sampling per department of the two higher institutions of learning.
The findings revealed that there is no significant difference in the impact of mobile phone use on the work- family life balance of the respondents whether or not the employees are employed at BSU or SLU.
The use of mobile phones do not increase or decrease the number of hours worked, stress at work, wellness and well-being at work, employee’s workload and output and their working relations with respect to their colleagues and peers.
Similarly, there is no significant difference on the use of mobile phones on the personal and family life of the employees particularly the facilitation in family and household coordination, increased sense of self and family security, quality communication for family members or friends’ bonding time and leisure and their interpersonal and intrapersonal communication with other people.
The use of mobiles phones at work need not be regulated however, formulations on mobile phone ethics in offices may be considered to include their already existing practices found not to be negating the quality of services of the employees.|
